CustomISED EMployment
Customised Employment (CE) is a unique model of engagement that focuses on bringing people together to negotiate an employment opportunity or a career path. One of the significant differences with CE is that it respects both parties, the employee and the employer, in the negotiation process. A good relationship that is mutually beneficial to both parties is desirable for a sustainable future.
The underlying process of CE is ‘Your’ Discovery.
Each phase of ‘Your’ Customised Employment Process plays a pivotal role in creating your successful employment journey.
There are several phases customised to you, including the intensity or speed of delivery, mental health services, in addition to the training/mentoring for ‘your’ support team.

PHASE 1: Informational and Conversational interviewing
Achieving your desired outcome is streamlined through techniques like ‘Informational and Conversational’ Interviews. These discussions, facilitated by ‘Your Purpose,’ involve extensive communication between you, the employer, and the YP Team. They are primarily designed to gather information, not to just secure a job.
For You, the Employee
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of your true essence as our client.
- Begins by engaging with ‘your’ primary support network including family, friends, and community.
- Involves visiting ‘your’ home environment and exploring ‘your’ neighbourhood to gain insights.
For the Employer
- Determines the suitability of this employer for our client, serving as a “candidacy interview” for both parties.
- Combined with a Job Analysis clarifies how a new employee can address a company’s unmet needs.
- It allows the employer to share key information about their business and discuss their expectations for employment.
PHASE 2: Capacity Building Support Plan
- Identify ‘your’ ideal work environment, necessary support systems, and preferred learning modalities.
- Evaluate ‘your’ current abilities and assess job-relevant skills, including travel proficiency, computer literacy, and financial management.
- Identify areas for further education and/or skill development.
- Emphasise ’your’ skill development over immediate placements, strengthening ‘your’ skillset is pivotal for boosting prospects for long-term and sustainable employment roles.
- Develop a clear roadmap for achieving employment success.

PHASE 3: Consultative Training & Supports
- Training begins for ‘Your Purpose’ with researching workplace cultures, and addressing interpersonal/social skills as needed, negotiations in staff practices, and resulting in real change.
- The evolution of employment services under NDIS and the move to client (‘your’) choice and control requires organisations to create individual solutions unique to ‘your’ setting.
- Collaborating with inclusive employers who comprehend diverse support needs and align with career pathways.
- Secure employment opportunities that provide individualised custom solutions to training and conditions of employment.
- Organise logistics such as transportation, and attire, and address assorted employment conditions such as work environment and schedule.
Phase 4: Job Development & Negotiation
- Showcase ‘your’ abilities and skills to potential employers by crafting a comprehensive vocational profile tailored to ‘your’ strengths and aspirations.
- Address any & all potential challenges or skill restrictions proactively.
- Negotiate customised roles that leverage ‘your’ skill set and learning potential.
Phase 5: Placement
- Foster a supportive work environment conducive to long-term job satisfaction and success.
- Cultivate a positive relationship between you and ‘your’ employer.
- Engaging in hands-on work experience opportunities to cultivate essential skills and expand your experience.
Phase 6: Post-Employment Supports
